Boxers from the police and fire service will be putting on their gloves ready to take to the ring for a charity match in the Black Country.
They have been in training for weeks for the 20-fight card at Oceana nightclub, in Bilston Street, Wolverhampton, on October 1 in aid of soldiers charity Help for Heroes. Many of the fighters train at Priory Boxing Club, in Dudley, under the tutelage of coach and firefighter Warren Davies.
The 40-year-old watch manager at Wolverhampton fire station says there has been some banter ahead of the big fight.
“It has been a good build-up, and I think the mind games have started, but we are all there at the end of the day to raise money for a good cause,” he said.
Many of the firefighters and police have been drawn from stations in Wolverhampton and Dudley.
Doors open at 5pm for a 6pm start. Tickets cost £20 in advance or £25 on the night. Dress is smart casual.
