Wetherspoons aims to take over fire-hit pub

An historic Bloxwich pub is poised to be taken over by JD Wetherspoon, creating 40 new jobs. The pubs chain is in negotiations for the Bulls Head.

The building, which dates back to the 1920s, was left in a dangerous state following an arson attack in November. Bosses at Wetherspoons today said that if a deal is reached, £1 million will be spent revamping the Park Road pub.

The news was welcomed by councillors in the area who said it would give the town a much-needed boost.

It comes weeks after it was revealed that Wetherspoons was understood to be taking over the former Gala Bingo Hall, in Aldridge.

The company recently opened St Matthew’s Hall, in Lichfield Street, Walsall.
