Three men who travelled to and from Wolverhampton with a killer who shot dead a Black Country plasterer have been jailed for a total of nine years.

Jahmayne Meade is already serving a life sentence for shooting Lee Douglas in the neck and back after finding him with his former girlfriend at a house in Bilston.

Meade’s 21-year-old brother Courtney Meade, cousin Ricardo Morgan, also 21, and brother-in-law Irfan Patel, 24, who are all from Leicester, were yesterday jailed for three years each at Birmingham Crown Court.

The court was told that Jahmayne Meade had wanted to travel to Wolverhampton on November 10 last year after his ex-girlfriend, Leanne Blake, had ignored texts and calls from him.

Prosecutor Mr Hugh O’Brien-Quinn said the four drove to a flat on the corner of Arthur Road and Wellington Road, where Miss Blake was spending the night with Mr Douglas, from Tipton.

Jahmayne Meade went into the property and was involved in a fight with Mr Douglas, during which 31-year-old Mr Douglas was blasted in the neck and back.

Mr O’Brien-Quinn told the court Morgan had gone into the property and witnessed the fight. He returned to the car and told Courtney Meade and they later heard shots being fired.

Patel then drove all four men back to Leicester before Morgan and Jahmayne Meade took a taxi to a friend’s house in Nottingham.

Each of the defendants had pleaded guilty to assisting an offender.

Defence barristers for each of the three men indicated that their clients did not know Jahmayne Meade had a gun or that he planned to use it. The barristers said their clients were each deeply remorseful and had expressed sorrow for Mr Douglas and his family.
