A man who “horrifically” neglected six of his parents’ pets, resulting in the death of five of them, has been warned he is facing a prison sentence.

RSPCA officers found five dead bodies of a dog, two cats, a hamster and a rat when they inspected the home of Matthew Pearson’s parents, in Portway Road, Bilston.

The animals had been left in the care of the 28-year old, from Graiseley Lane, Wolverhampton after his parents went to Cornwall in January.

When officers entered the house they found they found the rooms covering in faeces and urine, with putrid water supplies, very little food and scratch marks on the inside of the kitchen door.

The only survivor was a collie-type dog called Beethoven, while second dog called Buster was found dead in his basket.

Pearson pleaded guilty to 34 offences relating to animal cruelty in February and March, and chairman Richard Blundell adjourned the case for a report to be prepared before sentencing.

What is wrong with this hateful man. I cannot understand how anyone can be so vile to put these poor creatures through so much pain and suffering. If the spineless idiot couldn’t be bothered with them why didn’t he just take them to a rescue centre. He and others like him make my blood boil. I just hope that the idiot gets a long jail sentance and that the prisoners that he is in with are animal lovers and treat him as he treated the poor animals.

Strange how mistreatment of animals causes such outrage amongst the people yet when our fellow brothers and sisters are being butchered around the world, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, soon others – no-one bats an eyelid.

what’s to say nobody bats an eyelid? Isn’t it just that E&S is a local paper, this is a local story. The ones you mention are national stories and so typically wouldn’t appear here.

I certainly detest the fact that innocent civilians may be killed or maimed during wars in those countries. That said, there are also soldiers and factions within those countries who choose to kill our British soldiers. I have less sympathy for them.

Well, Matthew looks as if he could shed a few pounds. I think, therefore, we all know what would be a good way of teaching him a lesson over this matter ….

After reading this post, I feel truly sick.

The jailers should treat him in the same when he is inevitably locked up.

My mind cannot comprehend why this fool thought that was acceptable practice.

I do hope the courts place a life-time ban on him owning animals as clearly he cannot be trusted.
