Trapped driver rescued from wreckage
Tuesday 30th August 2011, 11:30AM BST.
A driver was trapped after her car hit a tree and flipped on to its roof on a busy Wolverhampton road.
The blue Fiat Punto overturned after striking a tree along the A4123 Thompson Avenue, near its junction with Silver Birch Road.
The 19-year-old driver was freed by firefighters from Wolverhampton and Fallings Park stations after almost half an hour trapped in the wreckage. She was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to New Cross Hospital, but her injuries were not thought to be serious.
The smash, at 11am yesterday, caused disruption for drivers travelling into the city.
Police closed a section of the road in both directions while firefighters and paramedics treated the woman before the car was recovered. The road reopened at around midday.
