Puppy in motorbike snatch returned
Tuesday 30th August 2011, 11:30AM BST.
A 16-week-old puppy stolen by two men on a motorbike in the Black Country has been reunited with its owners.
Delighted Pauline and Ian Parsons welcomed Alfie, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, back home, saying it was a “massive relief” to see him again.
A young couple from Coseley got in touch with Mr and Mrs Parsons after spotting Alfie in the Express & Star yesterday.
They said they had bought the dog from a man in Wolverhampton for £150.
Mrs Parsons said: “We cannot believe we have Alfie back. When he was taken from us, we didn’t think we’d ever see him again.
“It’s been a horrible time for us but now he is home.”
Police released CCTV images of the two opportunist thieves who snatched the dog at 2.30pm on Thursday from Kelvin Way Trading Estate in West Bromwich where Mr and Mrs Parsons work.
The pair were riding a motorbike in the industrial estate in West Bromwich, when they stopped. One of them leapt off the bike and grabbed the dog from a cage, and the pair sped off. The puppy was with Pauline at the franchise that the family run, Metal Supermarket, when it was snatched.
Mr and Mrs Parsons, of Brierley Hill, had been out all weekend searching for Alfie. Mrs Parsons said of the dog’s return: “As soon as we saw Alfie he recognised us. He started licking my husband’s face.”
