Mystery over future of Countess’s Arms
Tuesday 30th August 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Mystery surrounds the future of a landmark pub near Wolverhampton – eight months after it was due to reopen following a £1.5 million transformation.
Residents and councillors say building work is yet to start at The Countess’s Arms near Weston Park, despite the pub shutting its doors two-and-a half-years ago.
Pub bosses have permission to build a new 20-bedroom hotel at the landmark A41 venue in Weston Heath.
But it remains empty and fencing still surrounds the site.
Shifnal North Councillor Gordon Tonkinson today said the pub site had become an “eyesore” and was making the area look bad.
Owners I’ll Be In The Countess Arms by Seven Ltd were unavailable for comment today.
