Millions face bank holiday rail misery

Rail passengers were today warned they face travel misery over the bank holiday weekend with hundreds of miles of track shut for engineering works.
Replacement bus services will be put on and diversions put in place.
They will affect some passengers trying to get to and from London and the West Midlands.
Around nine million people are expected to use trains over today and the bank holiday weekend.
Virgin Trains services between Birmingham and Scotland will be diverted via Manchester calling at Wigan North Western and terminating at Preston tomorrow.
On Sunday, services will terminate at Milton Keynes and Rugby until 1pm. There will be a reduced service until midday on Bank Holiday Monday.
Work on the new Birmingham New Street station means that trains from London Euston to Birmingham will be diverted between Birmingham International and
Birmingham New Street stations. London Midland services will also be affected on Sunday from 9am to 1pm with buses instead of trains travelling between Watford Junction and Hemel Hempstead and between Milton Keynes Central and Northampton.
Arriva Trains Wales services between Aberystwyth, Chester and Birmingham International will start and finish at Wolverhampton.
CrossCountry trains between Birmingham New Street and Bournemouth will be diverted via Solihull and will not call at Birmingham International. Buses will run between Birmingham International and Leamington.
Roadworks on motorways have been finished or lifted.
