Pensioner’s neck broken in home robbery

A pensioner was knocked unconscious and left with a broken neck after a vicious attack which took place at her West Bromwich home.

The 70-year-old woman was pushed to the ground by a man who demanded keys and cash during the terrifying ordeal which happened as she was busy gardening.

Police said the victim was tending to plants when a man arrived at her front door.

He grabbed her and then demanded she hand over money and keys before pushing her to the ground, knocking her unconscious. He fled empty handed.

The woman was taken to Sandwell Hospital following the attack on Sunday. She remains in hospital today.
