Fury at off-road bikes plans for Shoal Hill Quarry
Friday 29th July 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Plans have been revealed to transform a Staffordshire quarry site into an off-road biking park, a move that has angered residents living nearby.
Shoal Hill Quarry could become a permanent home to bikers taking part in scrambler races.
Bosses at WOR (World of Riding) Events are in discussions with Stafford-based Inglewood Investments, owners of the quarry, to take permanent control of the site.
It is hoping to have its first meeting over the weekend of August 13 and 14, with several races.
The plans have angered residents and councillors who are worried about the bikers wrecking the local nature spot with noise and damaging trees.
But Inglewood Investments says illegal biking, which is out of its control, already takes place on the site, along with other forms of anti-social behaviour.
