Princess Anne was all smiles during a visit to a Staffordshire craft centre.

She spoke happily to visitors at the Amerton Farm Craft Centre, telling them she was looking forward to this Saturday's wedding of her daughter Zara Phillips to England rugby player Mike Tindall.

The Princess Royal was even handed a three-tier fruit cake by staff at Amerton Cakes as a wedding gift for the couple.

Eileen Nash, the owner of the business, based at Amerton Farm Craft Centre, near Stowe by Chartley, presented the Princess with the cake yesterday.

Marilyn Foster, who helped Eileen make the fruit cake, said: "She loved it."

Amerton Cakes was asked by Buckingham Palace to make a miniature version of one of its most popular wedding cakes, which may feature in the wedding in Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal was also a guest at Staffordshire County Showground during her visit to the area, where she opened the new office of the Staffordshire Rural Hub.
