Man killed in tragic factory accident

Police at the scene confirmed a man had died. The firm declined to comment.

A worker has died after he was trapped by steel tubes at a factory in the Black Country today.

The man, believed to be in his late 50s, died in the accident at the Roberts Gordon Europe Ltd firm in Darlaston Road, Wednesbury.

Fire and ambulance crews were called to the heating company’s base around 9am, after reports a man had become trapped under steel tubes.

A group of people, believed to be family members, were being comforted by police officers at the scene this morning.

There was no cordon around the building but police were guarding the back of the premises.

Amanda Wood, spokeswoman for the Health and Safety Executive, said: “The HSE is aware of the incident at Roberts Gordon which we believe to be a fatality.

“Inspectors are on site at the moment with the police.”
