Two injured in Smethwick shooting

Two men were shot after a huge crowd gathered in a Smethwick street for a rowdy party.

The double shooting happened around 11 last night in Retallak Close, near to the entrance to The Hawthorns train and Metro station.

Police have now launched an investigation into the shooting which left two men aged 28 and 31 with gunshot wounds.

They both remain in hospital in a stable condition today with non life threatening injuries.

A police cordon was today in place on Middlemore Road and Retallak Close today and around 10 police officers were at the scene.

Witnesses said hundreds of people had gathered in the close for a party around 10pm and litter was strewn across the streets today.
