Stafford engine firm to create 100 jobs
Monday 25th July 2011, 11:00AM BST.
A world-renowned engineering firm is creating more than 100 permanent and temporary jobs at its factory in Staffordshire.
Perkins Engines says it needs to increase the workforce to meet a growing demand for its products.
The firm, which makes gas and diesel engines, currently employs around 790 people, including 350 temporary workers, in Tixall Road, Stafford. It will now create 67 new permanent posts, which will be offered to the company’s existing temporary staff. A further 40 new temporary workers will also be recruited.
General manager Richard Cotterall said the recruitment follows “a growing demand for our engines and a greater stability in the global economy”. Stafford MP Jeremy Lefroy said: “This is great news for manufacturing in Stafford and the UK as a whole.”
