Up to 1,000 angry bus users have hit out at new changes to their local services, claiming they will increase journey times or leave some people facing walks of more than a mile to catch alternative services.

Hundreds of people have signed two petitions in Wednesfield town centre urging transport bosses Centro to reconsider new bus routes introduced today for the former 525 and 528 services. The services have now been renumbered as the 25 and 28.

They are angry the 25 no longer goes along Primrose Lane, Blackhalve Lane or Longknowle Lane in Fallings Park or Wednesfield High Street.

Residents in Ashmore Park are also upset that the 28 no longer goes to Bilston, but terminates instead in Willenhall. The changes are part of a reorganisation brought in to coincide with the opening of the new Wolverhampton Bus Station.
