Owners call time on pubs

A dozen pubs in Staffordshire and the West Midlands, with a combined value of around £2 million, have been put on the market by their owner.

The pubs are part of a wider group of 22 premises put up for sale by Birmingham-based Penn Street Taverns.

It says market conditions remain “tough” and it wants to dispose of 10 of its ‘bottom end pubs’ and concentrate on higher end operations.

The portfolio includes the Four Crosses, in Sandon Road, Stafford and the historic grade II listed Sampson Lloyd at Cape Hill in Smethwick, a conversion of a former Lloyd’s Bank.

Two pubs are available at locations in Wednesbury and Birmingham and there are further venues for sale in Walsall, Tipton, Oldbury, Brierley Hill and Dudley.
