A disgraced Black Country accountant jailed after pocketing more than £276,000 from the life insurance and pension policies of a murdered man has written begging letters from prison asking former customers to send him cash.

Fraudster Bill Williams, who stole money from the family of Wolverhampton murder victim Andrew Diack, has sent letters from his prison cell at HMP Stocken, in Rutland.

In one, the former Tipton Town FC chairman, who used to run Dudley-based Williams & Co accountants, asked for a postal order of £20 to be made out to him.

He was jailed for five-and-a-half years in June for taking money owed to the two-year-old daughter of company director Andrew Diack just days after the 29-year-old was stabbed to death in a Wolverhampton pub. Mr Diack took out the policies on advice from Williams, who worked as an accountant for Featherstone-based Spray Tanker Services, which Mr Diack co-owned.

When Mr Diack, of Stafford Road, Fordhouses, was stabbed to death at Wolverhampton’s former Flying Dutchman pub in 2009, Williams, of Chester Road, West Bromwich, set in motion a plan to steal the funds.

In one begging letter Williams states: “As you can see I have moved offices again! Life is not too bad in here. If you want to keep in touch, I know it’s a cheek, but could you send me a PO for £20, as you have to buy everything in here.”
