A Government panel tasked with determining the future of the country’s forests may visit Cannock Chase after all.
Campaigners have been fighting to have a visit by the independent panel that advises the Environment Secretary.
It follows the Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty designated woodland apparently being snubbed – casting doubts on the beauty spot’s future. But Cannock MP Aidan Burley has persuaded a member of the panel to reconsider its decision not to include the area in its latest fact-finding visits.
Mr Burley met with the deputy head of the secretariat for the Independent Panel for Forestry Mike Seddon in order to express the strength of feeling of local people about the future of Cannock Chase Forest.
