Staffordshire Hoard attracts 10,000 visitors

One thousand people a day are flocking to see the world-famous Staffordshire Hoard at Stafford’s Shire Hall Gallery – with bosses expecting to shatter the 10,000 barrier this weekend.

Long queues are snaking around the building every day with people eager to view the £3.3 million treasure.

The Anglo-Saxon hoard went on display just 10 days ago and has provided a massive boost to tourism in the town centre.

Council bosses today said there had been an unprecedented demand but there was still plenty of chances to view the treasure trove which is on display until July 24.
