TV presenter Lorraine Kelly launched this year's Sky Ride cycling event which will take in Birmingham's iconic sights this weekend.

The TV star is the Sky Ride ambassador and will be both attending and taking part in the event on Sunday. Sky and British Cycling in partnership with Birmingham City Council will run the event which will see four and a half miles of the city centre's road shut off to motorists so cyclists can ride on traffic-free streets.

The route will take in sights including Edgbaston Cricket Ground, the Rag and Wholesale Market and Cannon Hill Park.

The Sky route will be traffic-free from 10am to 4pm, allowing participants to take part in the ride at their own pace.

Kelly said: "It's a fantastic day out for everyone, from those who have never cycled before to seasoned cyclists."
