West Brom kitman Dave Matthews fights cancer
Saturday 25th June 2011, 11:29AM BST.
West Bromwich Albion kitman Dave Matthews is battling cancer.
The 65-year-old, from Hasbury, Halesowen, is undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
It is understood the father-of-two noticed a lump on his neck after the game against Newcastle last season and has already had one chemotherapy session.
The news comes just months after he celebrated his 50th anniversary at the club with guests including Ron Atkinson, Johnny Giles and Tony Mowbray.

Terrible news. I’m sure he’ll make a full recovery, and hopefully he’ll be fighting fit in time for the derby. I’m sure I speak on behalf of every decent wolves fan when I say get well soon.
