Summer is here at last (honest!)
Saturday 25th June 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Britain could be enjoying the hottest days of the year from tomorrow with a heatwave expected to hit the country. Temperatures are expected to reach almost 30C (86F).
On Monday, hot temperatures are expected to peak across the Midlands with highs of 32C (90F) possible.
The hot spell is thanks to the Spanish plume system which pulls hot air from southern Europe and which also gifted Britain with temperatures of 25C in early May. But the warm spell is not set to last, with storms expected on Tuesday.
Andy Page, chief forecaster at the Met Office, said: “There is a 60 per cent chance of some places in the Midlands and south east England reaching 30C on Sunday and Monday.”
