Charge over death in Oldbury crash

A man has been charged with causing the death of a another man after burglary suspects crashed into his car.

Wedding planner Tauseef Shaukat, aged 24, of Mallin Street, Smethwick, died in Sandwell Hospital on June 13 after his Fiat Punto was hit by a Subaru Impreza in Churchbridge, Oldbury.

Robert Maxfield, aged 33, from Handsworth, Birmingham, has been charged on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was due at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.

Two youths, aged 16 and 17 – who were arrested near the scene of the crash – remain on police bail.
