Man fighting for life after scooter crash

A man riding a scooter was seriously injured after crashing into a lamp post and a parked car in the Black Country.

Traffic chaos was caused in Coseley stretching back to the busy A4123 Birmingham New Road while Central Drive was shut for about three hours.

Police were called at 1.50pm yesterday after the crash at the junction with Fountain Lane.

Emergency crews, including the Midland Air Ambulance, attended the scene and the man, in his late 20s, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for treatment. He suffered serious head, pelvic and leg injuries and is currently in a life-threatening condition.

The man had hit a lamp post before crashing into a Ford Fiesta. Any witnesses to the collision are urged to call Dudley Police on 0345 113 5000.
