Britain’s Got Talent’s Jean Martyn can’t wait for tour to begin

Jean Martyn’s life has become a non-stop whirlwind of media interviews, hotels and practice since she booked her place in the Britain’s Got Talent final – and she is loving every minute of it.

The 59-year old organist from Brewood is currently spending several hours a day honing her skills ahead of the TV talent show’s national tour, which  kicks off in Newcastle tonight .

Wolverhampton’s MJ Mytton-Sanneh, aged 13,  who finished third in the competition with boyband New Bounce, has also been rehearsing in London ahead of the start of the 14-date marathon.

Jean, who came 10th in the contest, said: “I had a quick turn around after the final where I dashed home for about four hours for a change of clothes, but then it was straight back down to London to start rehearsals.

“I was on This Morning on Thursday as well and I have been doing radio interviews every day since I made the final. I had been on Daybreak before the final so it has been all systems go.

“But it has also been the most wonderful experience I’ve had in my life. We are all working together, all the Britain’s Got Talent finalists. We are all getting along and it’s fantastic. “We are all in the same hotel and I don’t have to worry about being on my own because we are doing something all the time so you don’t have time to think about that.”

The Lichfield-born performer added that she was particularly looking forward to playing Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena on June 25 and London’s Wembley Arena on the eve of her 60th birthday, June 19.

“A lot of my friends have already bought their tickets for the Birmingham show,” she said. “I will also be playing Wembley Arena the night before my birthday and it is not everyone who can say that.”
