The Stan Cullis Stand at Molineux was reduced to nothing more than rubble today as diggers tore down the last section.

Mounds of debris and mangled steel were all that remained as part of the £16 million rebuild project and the Asda supermarket was clearly visible from the Billy Wright Stand.

Contractors today revealed the scheme was running ahead of schedule.

Wolves owner Steve Morgan wants the first tier of the new stand to be ready to seat an estimated 3,000 fans in an uncovered section by mid-September – just weeks into the 2011/12 Premier League season and less than four months after work started.

And contractors Buckingham Group have made light work of the demolition job, bringing down the 5,200-seater North Bank in just a fortnight.

The steel will be removed for recycling and concrete crushed and relaid to help form part of the foundations of the two-tier 7,700-seater replacement.
