Violence at a Sikh protest in the Black Country which left a police officer and two members of the public with head injuries was under investigation today.

Police are studying CCTV footage and urged those responsible to give themselves up.

More than 200 protesters gathered at the Sikh Cultural Centre, on the junction of Wellington Road and Swancote Road in Dudley to protest against meat and alcohol being served at a private function on Saturday.

Violence soon erupted with missiles thrown at police before some of the protesters forced their way into the building at 12.45pm.

The police officer and two members of the public injured were taken to hospital by paramedics.

    I am afraid that extremism is growing in Sikhism. There is little or no regard for law when it comes to a matter of faith. No wonder most states based on religion are failing.

    Nothing to do with extremism, this is simply a small minority of sikhs’s who have nothing better to with there time. Brum has thousands of Sikhs and only 200 turned up!!!! They send each other emails and txts for these events – bit like football hooligans. So NO these do NOT represent the Sikh community!
