Drop in West Midlands fly-tipping cases

The war against fly-tippers is being won with the latest figures showing a sharp drop in the number of cases across the region.

Almost every council in the West Midlands has seen a reduction, according to figures obtained by the Express & Star.

South Staffordshire Council revealed it has prosecuted 11 people over the past 12 months and seen a 40 per cent drop in the number of cases in the past three years.

There were approximately 7,000 cases of illegally dumped rubbish on public land in 2009/10 but the figure has started to fall.

This is due to the bosses at South Staffordshire Council have a tough policy on this type of thing and letting the Enforcement Team get on with it.

The drop is also due to the joint Multi Agency working with Staffordshire Police is catching these people and the legal department of the Council ytaken these cases forward.

Really? I think council staff need to take a walk around the nearby Local Nature Reserve which, has definitely not seen a drop in the household/gardening waste that is frequently dumped there.

If you contacted the Council as to where this Nature Reserve is they might be able to help you. But remember a lot of these reserves are private so the Council have no right to enter Private Land with out the owners Permission
