First MG6 in country is delivered

The first MG6 in the country was delivered to delighted new owners at a Black Country dealership.

John Newey, sales director at Summit Garage, Gornal Wood, handed over keys of white top-of-the-range family hatchback to Richard and Gill Martin.

The couple are MG enthusiasts from Abingdon, near Oxford, where the brand was established by automotive pioneer Cecil Kimber in 1924. Gill, aged 62, and her husband, 64, already have three MG cars between them: an MGB, a TF and a ZR.

“The car will be registered in my name and I’m really excited,” said Mrs Martin. “I fell in love with it when I saw it and unlike our other MGs it’s got lots of gadgets.”

They run Abingdon Works Centre — one of the biggest branches of the MG Car Club, with some 1,300 members.

“This is a historic car, we are delighted to have it and we’ll be hanging onto it,” said Mrs Martin.

Meanwhile, MG Motor has a car clinic at its Longbridge plant to check opinion on its next car.

The Chinese-owned firm will  launch the MG3 supermini in the UK towards the end of the year and is looking for feedback. Bosses will bring a Chinese-spec car to Thursday’s event.

MG Motor wants owners of new or nearly new superminis such as the VW Polo or Ford Fiesta to take part so they can help decide on the specification of the new car.

Anyone who would like to attend should email Steph Vickers at MG Motor UK: info@mgmotor.co.uk
