Fifty jobs at Dudley Council to be axed in new blow
Friday 20th May 2011, 11:30AM BST.
More than 50 workers at a Black Country council face compulsory redundancy as part of job cuts announced to save cash, it was announced today.
The posts will largely come from the children’s services, adult social care and housing departments at Dudley Council.
A total of 427 jobs, including the 52 compulsory redundancies, are set to go at the local authority over the next financial year under council plans to axe 800 posts by March 2014.
The authority needs to save £22 million between April this year and March 2012.
Councillor Les Jones, the new leader of Dudley Council, said today it was still hoped to cut the final number that would be forced to go, adding: “We are continuing to work extremely hard to reduce this number through redeployment and voluntary redundancy.
“We will have a clearer idea on numbers of staff by the middle of July.”

Come on we need more overpayed underworked managements to go. There is no real reason for them to squander our (tax payer) money on made up/fiddled expenses.
Shame they started with children’s services, adult social care and should have concentrated on management, taxi licencing, lister road and anywhere else where they “JUST WASTE OUR MONEY”.
Good riddence Dudley Council and please close the door behind you!!

I work for Dudley council and think it is unfair for us to lose jobs. We are supposed to be protected by the Government and they should honour our jobs for life and pensions. We went sick when they asked us to and used our expenses accounts as we were told to. I think we could save more money by closing further schools and leisure centres or by raising taxes on lower class workers.
We should get rid of the lower class things who live in council houses and sell the houses to developers so these would make us more money.
The members of the public should support us as without us council workers you will have nothing and where am I at the age of 21yrs old supposed to earn 30k with expenses accounts and full sick pay with a massive paid for pension
