Raiders punch elderly victim in own home
Saturday 30th April 2011, 7:00PM BST.
Masked raiders punched a pensioner in the face after breaking into his Black Country home. The 68-year-old was robbed at his home in Warley.
Two men, described as white and both wearing balaclavas, forced entry to the victim’s home and threatened him before punching him. They then stole bank cards and £20 in cash before escaping at around 1am yesterday.
DC Matt Millward from Sandwell CID said: “This was a nasty incident and police inquiries are ongoing to catch those responsible.”
The victim is not the only person in the region to have been attacked in their own home recently.
Two elderly people were left with broken bones, deep cuts and clumps of hair missing after being targeted in two separate raids in Pheasey, Walsall.
Police are concerned that as the weather gets warmer people will be leaving doors and windows open, which could leave homes vulnerable.
