The iconic statue of Wolves legend Stan Cullis was today moved in preparation for work on the club’s £40m redevelopment of Molineux.
The statue, which has been outside the Stan Cullis Stand in Sir Jack Hayward Way since 2003, will be placed in storage until work is complete.
Wolves spokesman Matt Grayson said: “It will be put back in a similar position to where it is now, but perhaps a little further forward, similar to the statue of Sir Matt Busby at Old Trafford.”
The Stan Cullis Stand will be demolished and replaced by a new two-tier stand.
That will boost the ground’s capacity from 29,408 to 31,700.
The development of the Steve Bull and Jack Harris Stands, increasing the capacity of Molineux to around 37,000, is set to follow.
