Thursday 31st March 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Two women were seriously injured and a child hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Wolverhampton today.
The air ambulance took off from fields behind Hilton Hall Community Centre in Lanesfield at 9.50am after the accident involving a black Fiat Punto, a silver Honda Accord and a Triumph motorbike on Birmingham New Road an hour earlier.
A half-mile stretch of the road was cordoned off by police from near the junction of Needwood Drive. One man was trapped in his car. His injuries are unknown.
Retired customer services rep Linda Smith, aged 60, who lives nearby, said: “We saw a terrible scene. A woman in one car was screaming because she had children in the back of her car and other people were trying to get them out.”
