Train services set for more disruption

Major disruption will be caused on West Midland trains again for the third Sunday running as drivers continue to refuse to work.

Drivers were being paid double time to volunteer for Sunday shifts but London Midland reduced this to time-and-a-half.

Many are now refusing the Sunday overtime and union Aslef is refusing to allow drivers to work midweek overtime.

It means London Midland will have to operate a reduced and restricted special timetable across its network.

Spokeswoman Wallace Weatherill said: “We want Aslef to support and encourage their members returning to work.”

But Mick Whelan, from Aslef, said: “The company created this situation, why should we help them to get out of it?”
