Suspect package found in Walsall town centre
Monday 28th February 2011, 3:00PM GMT.
Walsall town centre was brought to a standstill the afternoon when a suspect package was discovered near the bus station
Roads and the town’s bus station were closed, the Civic Centre evacuated as well as buildings in Hatherton Road.
A specialist team was being brought in to investigate the package.
Bridge Street, Lower Bridge Street, Hatherton Street and St Paul’s Street were among those closed off.
It is the second suspect package to bring the town grinding to a halt within a week.
Last Thursday evening, a child’s art project left outside a casino in Stafford Street caused town centre streets to be closed off at rush hour.
