The dramatic social revolution of the 1960s in Wolverhampton is being documented in a colourful new exhibition which focuses on the changes in the home.

The Bostin’ 60s display at Wolverhampton Art Gallery has been assembled by Wolverhampton-born author Sathnam Sanghera, whose parents arrived in the city in time for the era of change.

His exhibition features newspaper cuttings, furniture, kitchenware and clothing from the era of hippies, the colour television and the vacuum cleaner.

The exhibition focuses on the changes happening in the home at the time.

Central to the gallery’s display is the depiction of the hub of the household – the kitchen.

The vibrant colours of the sixties is clearly evident with a bright yellow dresser which sits next to yellow Formica table and chairs, in a room covered in flower power wallpaper.

The exhibition runs from 19 February to June 11 at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
