Joy as bus service is rescued

A vital bus service running through a South Staffordshire village has been saved from the axe.

Bus company Arriva, which currently runs the 68 and 69 services from Cannock to Wolverhampton, via Essington, announced it would axe the routes this weekend.

Residents launched a campaign to keep a bus service, saying they would not be able to get to work without one.

And today they were celebrating after Staffordshire County Council and South Staffordshire District Council stepped in to keep the 68 bus service running.
