Fire crews called to gas blast in Codsall

A number of people were reported injured this afternoon after reports of a gas blast in South Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue said it believed a garage containing gas cylinders had set alight and crews from Codsall and Brewood had been called to the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said: “We were called just after 2.40pm to Bilbrook Road in Codsall. We’ve got the hazardous area response team, two ambulances a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford.

“At the moment we’re dealing with numerous patients who are being assessed on scene but we don’t know how many or what their injuries are.”
