A Black Country man on bail suspected of killing his girlfriend in Greece has had his hopes of being home for Christmas dashed.

His family had applied for bail conditions which are keeping Luke Walker in Crete to be lifted over the festive period but the prosecutor failed to reach a decision, meaning that time ran out for him to get a flight home.

His family today told the Express & Star that he was "gutted".

Walker, aged 22, is accused of causing the death of girlfriend Chelsea Hyndman, 20, by actual bodily harm. He denies the charge and claims that she was injured in a fall.

He was kept behind bars for five months in Crete accused of murdering Miss Hyndman but prosecutors reduced the charge after granting him bail in October.

He will spend Christmas with his mother Lindy in a rented apartment in Crete, while his father Patrick and brother Ryan are at the family home in Brierley Hill.
