Armed robber strikes at off licence

An armed robber struck a shopkeeper across the head at a Black Country shop before stealing a mobile phone and cigarettes.

The robber, believed to have a gun, walked into Wall Heath Wine Lodge, in Enville Road, and threatened the male assistant.

He then assaulted the man before escaping with his haul at around 6.30pm last Sunday. Details of the attack were released by police today.

Detectives have now launched an investigation and are asking witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward and help with their enquiries.

The robber is described as  black, around 6ft tall and wearing dark glasses.

He wore a bandana across his face during the robbery and is believed to have run off. Officers say people could have seen him fleeing.
