A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a two-month-old  was killed in the Black Country.

The boy, Mohammed Isa, was in a Toyota Corolla  with his family when it was involved in a crash with a Mitsubishi Evolution in Grove Lane, Smethwick, just after 6pm on Saturday.

The Mitsubishi has no registered owner and the occupants fled the scene.

Police confirmed that a 31-year-year old man from the Smethwick area was arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He remains in police custody.

Three men believed to have been in the Mitsubishi have also been quizzed.

Four other occupants of the Corolla, including Mohammed’s parents, are in hospital with serious injuries.
