A drumming enthusiast popped into Walsall Museum to give a talk on suggestions of how to maintain and care for drums.
‘Sir’ Alan Buckley from Walsall has been collecting drums since the age of 8 and has developed a wide range of knowledge of drums and drum kits.
Alan revealed all you need to know about how to search for vintage drum kits and how to care for your collection.
He also provided a demonstration of lapping, the technique of attaching the skin to the head of the drum.
The 74-year-old has an extensive collection of drum kits from the 1920s to the 1970s. More than 110 drum kits, 300 snare drums and music catalogues and books are on display in the museum’s Classic Beats exhibition.
The exhibition itself is on show until Saturday 5 March 2011.
