The rush is on to find the must-have toy for Christmas – as West Midlands stores warn that shelves are likely to fall empty before the big day.

Some of the top children’s presents this year are already few and far between, with many retailers struggling to find suppliers to meet demand.

On the wish list for many children this year are action figures from the Toy Story film, and with millions of families hoping to find a Buzz Lightyear toy, retailers are having to work hard to meet the rush.

Items such as MP3 players, particularly the iPod Nano, computer games, digital cameras and other electronic gadgets could also be affected.
