Woman aged 19 held over Wolverhampton murder
Friday 29th October 2010, 11:29AM BST.
A 19-year-old woman was today under arrest on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed in the chest in Wolverhampton.
She was held after police were called to Parkfield Grove, Parkfields, just after 11.10 last night. The victim, named locally as 48-year-old James Lockhart, suffered a stab wound to the chest at his house in the street.
Police spokesman David Lavender said the victim was taken to New Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He added: “A 19-year-old female was arrested at the address and is in custody helping police with their inquiries.
“It is not believed that anybody else is connected with the incident.”
Today a marked police car was parked outside the flat, which was taped off, as were at least six neighbouring flats. One man, who asked not to be named, said: “I heard arguing at around 10.30pm last night. I didn’t think anything of it until I saw the ambulance.”
Another neighbour said: “I was watching TV when I heard a lady screaming.
“I turned the TV down but didn’t hear anything else. I didn’t know anything about it until this morning when I looked out the window and saw the police.”
