Free festive parking in Wolverhampton
Friday 29th October 2010, 5:00PM BST.
Free parking is being introduced at one of Wolverhampton’s busiest car parks in the run-up to Christmas, it was announced today.
The move at Fold Street car park is to try and tempt shoppers to the city centre.
The 298-space car park will be free on late night shopping evenings which begin on November 24.
The normal evening charge would be £2.50
Councillor Paddy Bradley, said: “We hope people who may have been thinking about going elsewhere to do their Christmas shopping will come into the centre.”
The car park will be free from 5.30pm until 4am on November 24, December 1, December 8 and then every weekday from December 13 to Christmas Eve.
Carillion is also opening up its car park in Birch Street for free at weekends and on shopping nights.

its a start but parking should be free all over the city centre and all of the time. then maybe we,ll stop seeing shops closing down as often and the thousands of wulfrunians who shop elswhere coming back to the city.

All council-owned car parks should be free, all year round.
Local authorities do not have the right to charge the public to use car parks they already own.

As a Christian country I’d expect nothing less in the run up to Christmas!
