Mr Egg cafe in name change

Tuesday 26th October 2010, 11:29AM BST.

Iconic Birmingham cafe Mr Egg is under new management and will change its name, it has emerged.

The cafe, in Hurst Street, lost its late licence following an incident in which 13 people were injured after they were allegedly sprayed with undiluted vinegar last November.

It will now be called Chicken Cottage.

New owner Ziaur Rahman Khan was granted the licence by Birmingham City Council’s licensing committee yesterday.

Chicken Cottage will be able to open from 8am to 5am seven days a week.
