A children’s author visited a Walsall library to share some writing tips with hundreds of young bookworms.

Chris Mould, author of the Something Wickedly Weird books, spent the day at the newly refurbished £1.2 million Bloxwich Library.

He held workshops for more than 400 local schoolchildren and read extracts from his books to the youngsters.Mr Mould, who is also a freelance illustrator, put pen to paper and sketched a range of characters for the children.

Community librarian Lyn Lovern said the children enjoyed their day with Mr Mould.

“It went fantastically well,” Mrs Lovern said.

“We had more than 400 children from a host of schools across Bloxwixh come in and meet Chris.

“They really enjoyed themselves.”

Bloxwich Library reopened earlier this month following a nine-month refurbishment.

It now offers modern facilities including a café, new computer desks, display and performance areas, meeting rooms and a children’s reading garden.

Mr Mould, who lives in Bradford, West Yorkshire, has been a freelance illustrator since 1991. He has since had his Something Wickedly Weird series published.
