Stafford mum Fi all of a Twitter at birth
Saturday 18th September 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Baby Oscar Stone kept hundreds of people on the edge of their seats as they nervously awaited his special delivery.
They were glued to computer screens following his progress into the world – and after more than 11 tense hours news of his arrival finally filtered through.
Oscar’s birth became a Twitter hit yesterday at twitter.com/Childcareisfun_ and mother Fi Star-Stone believes she is the first to post her labour on the site.
The 34-year-old nursery nurse from Stafford began Tweeting as soon as she went into labour at 2.30am yesterday. Oscar John Michael Victor Stone finally put in his appearance at 3.42pm at the family home in The Garthlands weighing 7lb 9oz.
Fi kept Tweeting until 12.25pm when she could no longer concentrate but after the delivery she and husband Richard, also 34, broke the news on Twitter. Her Tweets attracted some 100 followers and messages from TV’s Emma Forbes and artist Banksy.
Today the family was throwing a first birthday party for Oscar’s sister Betsy.
Fi’s Twitter countrdown to birth:

my daughter can beat this, produced a beautiful baby boy this morning at 5.30, delivered by his father after just one push and guided by a 999 operator!

Don’t think it’s meant to be a competition Gillian, but congratulations to both new mammas

Its not a competition. its birth its beautiful no matter what lets celebrate it not compete with others. Women need to stand together to make eachother stronger and build eachother up not tear eachother down.

My wife had 15 hours and it included full blown pre eclampsia. Not followed by a sad lot on twitter though. So I congratulate all new mums and hope your kids are well but you got off lightly Fi!!

brian – was that comment necessary, really? Your wife sounds like she had a pretty traumatic time, which must have been very hard on you both – I hope your baby arrived safely in the end, but to indicate that Fi got off lightly is pretty insulting! She gave birth for goodness sake. There is nothing ‘light’ about this. It hurts. A lot. No matter how it happens. Plus she die it all without any pain relief and she stuck to her plan to birth hew new baby boy in the comfort of her own home, with no pain relief.
Breeze – sounds like you had a pretty rough time indeed! I hope you are OK now – and your baby too. But hey everyone, this post is about Fiona’s birth experience, please let’s not forget that. She’s just become a Mummy again – and that’s something to celebrate. So hoorays and congrats all round Fi ;)
You are a brave and wonderful woman who did what many, many women could never do. You should be very proud of yourself- and of course, that lovely new baby boy of yours :)
Much love,
A xXx
