Wolverhampton factory burgled twice
Thursday 9th September 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Raiders today smashed their way through a Wolverhampton factory wall and fled with brass fittings – the second time the premises has been targeted in two days.
Marston Brassware, off Hickman Avenue in East Park, was targeted in the early hours of this morning.
It was also broken into in the early hours of yesterday.
The raiders made off with metal bathroom accessories, believed to be worth thousands of pounds.
West Midlands Police has now launched an investigation into the thefts.
Building firm L & E Construction was drafted in to carry out repair work on the damaged wall yesterday morning and was called again today after the second raid.
Boss Shane Larner said: “We filled three holes in yesterday.
“It took us all day to do that and these people have come back again and smashed their way in.
“They must have used a sledgehammer. The holes were about 3ft in diameter and at least 1ft deep.
“I couldn’t believe it has happened again. They stole quite a lot of brass fittings.” Mr Larner, aged 54, of Cherrywood Green, Bilston, who has been in the building trade for more than 30 years, added the work to refill the holes was costing more than £1,000.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen something suspicious between 6pm on Tuesday night and 8am yesterday morning and from 1am-3am this morning.
Marston Brassware manufactures shower heads, riser pipes and tap heads.
Bosses today refused to comment.
