DVD trader who assaulted PCSO is jailed

A counterfeit DVD seller who assaulted a police community support officer after he was caught trading on a Black Country car park has been jailed for six months.
Mohammed Yousaf pushed and pulled the Pcso after he was approached over selling fake copies from the boot of his BMW in George Street, Walsall. He was later found to have with 230 fake DVDs.
The 39-year-old admitted offences of fraud and assault on August 14.
Yousaf, who has a previous conviction involving counterfeit goods from 2008, arrived at Walsall Magistrates Court almost an hour late for sentencing yesterday. District Judge Michael Morris ordered him to serve 18 weeks for possession of article for use in fraud and eight weeks for assault.
He was also fined £100 for failure to surrender to bail, and the destruction of the DVDs, which included feature films and pornographic material, was enforced.
Yousaf was approached by Pcso Anthony Simpson on the Asda car park.
The court heard he was asked to move away from his vehicle but then tried to force his way into the car. As the Pcso tried to stop him the officer was pushed and pulled away. No injuries were sustained.
When arrested Yousaf tested positive for Class A drugs. A search of his car and given address in Harden Road, Leamore, found a total of 230 fake DVDs.
Sentencing him district Judge Morris said: “These were deliberate acts by you and when questioned by a PCSO you pushed that person out of the way. There is no alternative but a custodial sentence.”
